Have you ever received a text or phone call from a friend who said something encouraging? Has someone ever smiled at you and brightened your day? Or have you ever noticed how many verses are in the Bible about joy and happiness?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you probably understand the impact a little positivity can have in a person’s life. This world is full of such negativity, that a kind word or a happy smile can go a very long way in someone’s day. But where does this joy come from? What if we’re having a really bad day, and we just can’t be happy?
In Philippians 4:4, Paul tells the Philippians to “rejoice in the Lord.” At the time of Paul’s writing this, he was in prison. Paul was in prison, yet he was telling these Christians to rejoice in the Lord. What a powerful thought this is. Our joy should come from the Lord, because no matter how tough our situation seems, we are so blessed to be Christians. Even on the worst of days, we all have something to be thankful for. We all have at least one reason to be happy, and that is our hope in Christ Jesus.
My challenge for you this week is to remember the power of positivity.
Be kind, smile more, and love genuinely.
That is living like Jesus.
