The Most Important Lesson I Learned in 2016

This year has been a year full of many ups, downs, and often not knowing the direction I was going in. I have grown spiritually this year, but I’ve also had some all-time lows. I started some new, exciting projects and let go of older ones. I’ve made a lot of friends and lost a few, too.

This summary of my year probably describes a lot of us; a roller coaster of good things and not-too-good things. I learned a lot this year, but one lesson sticks out more than anything, and I have to share it with you.

Throughout this whole year – all the ups and downs – God was there.

God was there when my family and I were going through some painful things that come with older child adoption. God was there when I started my blog and prayed that somehow, I could make a difference in the lives of others. God was there when I cried myself to sleep at night for a whole host of messy reasons. God was there when I made the decision to stand for what I believed – at the cost of embarrassment and possibly losing many of my friends.

Though I felt alone, I knew I wasn’t.

My prayer for the new year is that I never forget this lesson. My prayer for you in this new year is that you don’t forget that God is going with you. You don’t have to brave a new year and all that it will bring alone. God has always been with me, and I know He always will be.

What is one lesson you’ve learned during 2016 that really made an impact on your life?

With love,

  1. I completely agree, I realized friends will be there for you, but they aren’t perfect. But God is and He will always have my back, thank you for this blog Sarah, Cheyanne. ?
