Some days, I have so much motivation to do good and write well. Some days the words form faster than I can type them. And some days, my writing doesn’t come from my mind but from my heart and my soul – praying that maybe I will encourage someone through my words.
Today was not one of those days. Today I sat in front of a blank screen until I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to write something.
As I racked my brain looking for something meaningful or profound to write (and failing miserably), I was humbled by a thought I often forget: it’s not about me.
Sometimes, I feel like my light isn’t shining bright enough. I feel like no matter how hard I try, my efforts to do good for the Lord are vain and worthless. But it’s not about my light – it’s about His light. His light is shining through you as soon as you give your life to Him. His light is shining through your love and your joy. It doesn’t matter how imperfect or incompetent I think I am, because His grace is sufficient. His love never fails.
So if you’re feeling “not good enough” to do something for God, remember that it isn’t about us. God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called. God has given you plenty of opportunities to go out there and shine His light. There is nothing holding you back except for yourself. Deny yourself. Live for Him, and shine His light.
