I feel pretty confident that all girls feel honored when a guy holds a door open for us or pulls out our chair before we sit. These little acts of chivalry often surprise us. Why is that?
Because we don’t see it very often. Sometimes we get discouraged because we wonder, do these kind of guys exist anymore?
I’m here to tell you that they do. Not just because I happen to know some of them, but because God has a plan for you, a great one. “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11
God wants the very best for you and your life. God will send you a perfect guy, who will open your door and bring you red roses, when the time is right. God doesn’t do “mediocre” or “good enough”. When God works, it is bigger and better than anything we could have dreamed.
Chivalry is not dead. As long as there are God-serving, gentlemen-seeking girls, there will be God-serving gentlemen. And we must pray that boys will rise up and be these gentlemen that God wants them to be.
But it doesn’t end here. We also need to do our part as women in encouraging kind manners in a guy. Feminism and gender equality is a very common subject in our culture. Many women believe that they should not be treated in a way that makes them appear weak or vulnerable. No, I do not think it is ever okay for men to mistreat women in an inferior way. But I do believe that women were made to be submissive to their husbands, and they are the weaker vessel. This does not demean or diminish women; this simply shows us our place.
God has designed an order for this universe: one man, to rule over his household, and one woman, to care for her family and be submissive to her husband. Gentlemen should be praised and respected, and we girls should rise up to be ladies who honor this kind of man. So pray for them, respect them and settle for nothing less.
